Sony Will Enter SSD Storage Arena With Nextorage Brand

Sony is a well-known Japanese technology brand, known for their gaming consoles, televisions and even their camera series. Recently, Sony is expected to enter the computer storage industry with their latest sub-brand, Nextorage.

Nextorage is a storage brand that was started by Sony to develop storage for their Sony PlayStation 5 game console first, but now it looks like they will be expanding their offering with a number of new storages that use PCIe 5.0 technology.

At today's Tokyo Game Show, Nextorage showcased these PCIe 5.0 SSDs in several different storage options, including 1TB, 2TB and 4TB. They say that these storages come with a speed of reading data as fast as 9500MB/s and writing data of 8,500MB/s.

PCIe 5.0 SSD storage speeds are expected to increase even faster in the middle of next year when Micron and SK Hynix release 3D storage chips, but for now it is not known when Nextorage will introduce their storage options to the consumer computing market.
