The Xperia 5 series is a compact flagship device from Sony. The previous model was the Xperia 5 III which was sold in Malaysia in November last year at a price of RM4,599. Today's launch event, Sony finally introduced the successor to this model, the Xperia 5 IV.
Sony Xperia 5 IV comes with a 6.1-inch OLED 21:9, 120Hz, HDR10+ screen, powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, using 8GB of RAM memory paired with 128GB of internal storage. The battery on the device is 5000mAh with fast charging, support for wireless charging as well as reverse wireless charging and runs the Android 12 operating system. Sony also comes with some first-of-its-kind features such as Game Enhancer and tools for live streaming of gameplay.
As usual, Sony Xperia will also have exclusive camera features and functions. Xperia 5 IV uses a 12+12+12 Megapixel configuration and a 12 Megapixel selfie camera. Among the camera functions of this device are various Zeiss color profiles and unique Zeiss filters. Sony also integrated some camera features from their Alpha series cameras.
Sony also uses stereo speakers that are optimized for an immersive user experience. For audio enthusiasts, Sony has also retained the 3.5mm audio jack port. The device also comes with video and audio editing applications for professional users. The device also has protection up to IP68.
With not many compact flagship devices, the Xperia 5 IV will compete with the Asus Zenfone 9. Both devices are priced at a premium. Sony Xpera 5 IV on price and for now it is not sure when it will be sold in the Malaysian market.
In the United States, this device is sold at a price of $999.99 which is around RM4,483.
