Tengku Zafrul today announced that the government has taken note of the decision of two telecommunications companies (MNOs) that do not want to obtain equity holdings or subscribe to DNB shares.
The two companies have not been named, but U Mobile is ready to confirm that they will not get a stake. While another company mentioned is Maxis.
Although neither has subscribed to DNB shares, but they have expressed their intention to use DNB's infrastructure for 5G networks.
Speaking further, Tengku Zafrul said the government adheres to the principle that the 5G network should be developed together with telecommunication companies, and that the government will not be the majority equity holder in DNB.
At the same time, it was also stated that there are external or foreign telecommunications companies that have expressed interest in contributing to the development of local 5G networks – and there is an option to offer equity networks to foreign telecommunications companies. However, no decision related to this has been shared for now.
The option to offer equity holdings to foreign MNOs is also still there as various foreign MNOs have expressed their desire to contribute to the development of local 5G networks – Tengku Zafrul@tzafrul_aziz pic.twitter.com/t7n0qPbxE5
