We are currently in the transition phase of the Covid-19 pandemic. Life is getting closer to normal with many feeling it is over. After more than two years of mandatory wearing of face masks in closed areas, the Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM) is now reconsidering the requirement.
The Minister of Health, Khairy Jamaluddin, said the Public Health Executive Committee has received various expert opinions on the wearing of face masks since last week and a new decision on it will be announced this Wednesday.
The use of face masks is no longer mandatory in western countries but is still used in eastern countries such as China, Japan and Malaysia. In Malaysia the number of daily new infections is now below 2000 showing a downward trend. In total, almost 4.8 million cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Malaysia which claimed 36,245 lives until September 4.
