In line with the Ministry of Health's decision to no longer require the wearing of face masks in closed areas since last Wednesday, the Malaysian Ministry of Education has confirmed that it will also no longer be required in school premises starting tomorrow in group A states.
Its use is still allowed for parents who choose to give it to their children. Students who show symptoms of fever, cough and flu are still required to wear a face mask in closed areas and in open areas it is encouraged. Its use is also still mandatory when students board school buses/vans, public transport and ride-hailing services.
With Malaysia getting closer to a fully endemic phase various relaxations have been given compared to the beginning of the pandemic. Even so, wearing a face mask is still mandatory when going to hospital and health premises and also when riding public transport.
