TikTok Almost Gets Approval From The U.S. Government To Avoid It Being Sold

During the end of President Donald Trump's administration, TikTok's business in the United States was almost sold to meet national security requirements if it wanted to continue operations. Oracle and Walmart emerged as potential buyers of TikTok's business but these initiatives stalled after Biden won the election.

But according to a Reuters report, TikTok is now close to reaching an agreement with the United States government that will allow it to continue operating without the business being sold as originally ordered. According to internal sources the changes in user data security and surveillance will be changed according to the requirements of the United States with Bytedance continuing to hold the company's operations.

Last June user data from the United States was transferred to Oracle's browser. This is seen as an effort by Bytedance to remove concerns about user data being shared with China as previously claimed.
