The USB Promoter Group, which is responsible for the USB standard, has now announced the latest standard, called USB4 Version 2.0.
This latest standard is more of a minor update to the existing USB4, and offers data transfer speeds of up to 80Gbps.
This latest standard also comes with backward support, including for USB4 Version 1.0, USB 3.2, USB 2.0 and even Thunderbolt 3. However, as usual, in enjoying this new feature, it also needs to be used with a USB cable with support for this new version.
In addition to faster data transfer, it is also suitable for use with a display panel, where more bandwidth is available in use with a high resolution display.
USB4 version 2.0 will be included on devices released starting this year.
