WhatsApp users will soon be able to import their own backup files

Data management for WhatsApp in my opinion is not very good even though they have found a way to transfer data from Android to iOS and vice versa. But the last backup file, if you are an Android user it will remain in Google Drive and if iOS it will remain in iCloud without being accessible to the user.

Now, WABetaInfo discovered a new feature being tested by WhatsApp which is importing backup files itself.

This feature is not new, because it has been introduced before. Only if your WhatsApp account has been linked with Google for backup to Google Drive – this import ability is lost. This feature is for those who don't have a Google account and are backing up on the device only.

WhatsApp may bring back this feature because in future, backup files will use Google Drive storage quota. So there will probably be an option to export to the device and if want to reuse WhatsApp the user can import the desired backup file.
