The Acting Minister of Communications and Multimedia is now sharing his sense of aggrievedness and sadness due to several cases where students are seen selling Student Devices given in an effort to aid learning.
A total of 14 cases have been identified so far, and several devices have been remotely disabled by authorities.
It is shared that all Student Devices provided come with built-in applications including tracking the device, and knowing its whereabouts – including whether it is on campus or off campus.
The government says the device also has a mechanism to track who has sold it to other parties.
It is emphasized that the students who received the Student Device have made an "Aku Janji" certificate, including saying they are from the B40 family, and stating that they will use the received device. So, it's a bit disappointing when cases like selling this device come up.
The ministry says they are taking these cases seriously, including saying it is not impossible for the government to publicly display the names of those who sell them - including informing the relevant universities.
However, it was also emphasized that this program will continue and will not stop the distribution of Student Devices due to this selling case. The public is also asked not to buy Student Devices sold by students.
