The European Union has already stated that they will enforce all device manufacturers to use USB-C on their devices in a few years. In parallel, now responding to an interview, Apple stated that they will follow what the law stipulates.
At the moment, there is no date shared by Apple regarding the implementation of USB-C on the iPhone - instead, it is simply stated that the European Union has determined that it must be implemented before 2024.
With the move to fully USB-C, it is expected to make the environment more awake with the need to use the same cable for various devices.
Apple itself also emphasized that this shift may also have an impact on electronic waste - given that there are now more than 1 billion Lightning cables in use by consumers worldwide.
