Apple has once again been fined in Brazil for failing to provide a charger with every iPhone purchase. This is the second time Apple has been fined. Last month they were fined 12,275 Reis (~RM11 million) for the same reason as iPhone 12 sales were also banned.
The fine this time reached 100 million Reis (~RM89 million) after Apple was dragged to court by the Brazilian Consumer Organization. Apple was ordered to provide chargers to all customers who purchased the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 in Brazil over the past two years. They should also offer chargers with every purchase for other products in the future.
Apple stopped offering a charger and earphones with every iPhone purchase two years ago in a bid to reduce electronic waste made from plastic. Although it was initially a laughing stock, Apple's actions were later carried out by other manufacturers such as Samsung.
