A privacy feature called App Tracking Transparency was introduced since iOS 14.5. Through it, it requires the application to ask the user's permission first before monitoring their usage. This monitoring is for the display of advertisements that suit the user's interests.
This feature is said to have caused Meta a loss of RM41 billion throughout 2022. But on Apple's own system that is in iOS and iPadOS, in the App Store the search section will still display ads even if they are not to the user's taste.
Last August, they started displaying ads on the main page of the App Store, namely Today. Later this month, Apple began displaying ads in the You Might Also Like recommendations section. Since the display of these ads started, developers have started to express their dissatisfaction because their application pages are filled with gambling ads.
Now, Apple has temporarily stopped displaying ads related to gambling and some other categories. But it is not explained until when and what is the solution to stop the display of these low-quality ads.
