Automattic, the company behind WordPress has already taken over the popular podcast platform, Pocket Casts last year. Now, an extension of that, Pocket Casts follows the WordPress model, and starts offering their mobile application in open source form.
Currently, two source codes are offered, namely Pocket Casts iOS and Pocket Casts Android. With this step, developers can help develop it together, or even view the source code and use it in their own personal development.
Pocket Casts also stated that they believe podcasts should not be controlled by companies like Spotify or Apple, but instead should be able to be controlled by anyone without issue – leading them to offer their source code in open source.
