Another case of security vulnerabilities causing user data to leak onto the web arena this week. The data of 2.6 million users of e-commerce site Carousell has been sold on the dark web market for $1000. Hackers managed to steal data in the form of account name, email, phone number, user country, date the account was opened and the number of users are among those affected. Only user data in Singapore has been leaked so far.
Carousell confirmed the validity of the data by saying their system was accessed during the migration process a few weeks ago. They however said only 1.9 million users were affected and 2.6 million opened. Affected users have contacted Carousell that the vulnerability in the system has been patched.
