After saying he refused to go ahead with the Twitter purchase last August because he didn't believe the platform's claims to have a high number of bots, Elon Musk now wants to go ahead with his original wish at $44 billion. According to a New York Times report, before agreeing to buy back Twitter, Musk tried to get a price cut of up to 30%.
Twitter rejected Musk's offer before he came back with a 10% price reduction request which was also rejected. The purchase of Twitter according to Musk is a step to speed up the development of X which will be an all-in-one application. There is speculation that if the purchase is finalized, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal will be replaced by Musk on an interim basis. These two individuals publicly sparred on Twitter after the announcement of the purchase was made.
