The European Union has today approved new legislation, which will require all device manufacturers to use the USB-C connector as a parallel charging port on devices, by the end of 2024.
With this move, all electronic devices – including smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones, earphones, mobile consoles, speakers, keyboards, mice, and laptops use USB-C chargers.
It should also support charging up to 100 Watts.
With this parallelization, it will make it even easier for users – at the same time reducing electronic waste, and at the same time making it easier for users to buy chargers for devices.
This will also require Apple to use USB-C chargers on their products such as iPhones and AirPods.
Since the EU gives a period until the end of 2024, then all device manufacturers have enough time to make changes to their products.
