One of the features available on Facebook is Instant Articles support, which allows users to read a link shared on the social service quickly – without having to load a page manually and take a long time.
It was introduced to facilitate and speed up the access of certain content by users. However, now it appears that Facebook will end the feature.
Facebook will now end the feature in about six months, which is by April 2023.
Instant Articles was previously introduced in 2015, and is used by various websites, including we itself.
With this termination, any link sharing will take the user directly to the content publisher's site directly without opening Instant Articles again.
Facebook also stated that currently, only around 3% of users see shared links on their Feed. And this makes it not worth it for them to continue investing in the product – thus making them choose to terminate it.
