Fossil Gen 6 Starts Receiving Wear OS 3 Update

The Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition is Fossil's first smartwatch to run Wear OS. The watch needs to be connected via the Fossil Smartwatches and Wellness app as it no longer supports the Wear OS app.

This watch has the same design and specifications as the Fossil Gen 6, with a 44mm body, 1.28-inch OLED screen, 1GB RAM memory, 8GB internal storage and is powered by the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chip. Now, Fossil Gen 6 is starting to receive the much-anticipated update that is Wear OS 3. But what is received is Wear OS 3.2.x, not Wear OS 3.5 like the Pixel Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch5.

This update brings Pixel Watch-like Wear OS 3, which is native Wear OS without heavy themes. But it doesn't support Google Assistant, Google Fit isn't built-in because it doesn't support the latest Wear Health Services, and Google Maps can't be used if you're using iOS. Not only that, after the update the watch will also be formatted like it was just purchased with the user having to do a reset and reinstall the app.

The update is also gradual and not all will be able to receive it such as Skagen Falster Gen 6, Michael Kors Gen 6, and Razer x Fossil Gen 6. In Malaysia you can get Fossil Gen 6 at a price starting at RM1,349.
