As Meta is now seen to be struggling with profitability, and is not expected to add employees in the coming months, their various social media platforms are expected to need to add revenue as soon as possible.
Instagram has reportedly been one of those platforms. The photo and video social media platform will reportedly increase the number of ads on the platform. Previously, ads could be shown through users' timelines and Instagram Stories.
In the future, there is a possibility that Instagram will add more ads in other parts of the application, such as the Explore page and also the user profile page. In fact, Instagram is expected to introduce a paid program where users will receive a cut of the income from the advertisements shown on their profile timeline.
New ads may also be showing up in Facebook Reels soon, where 4-10 second ads will play after a Reels video has finished playing.
More interestingly, Instagram and Facebook are also seen to be using artificial intelligence technology and augmented reality to introduce more sophisticated advertisements that tend to activate users to become buyers.
It's no surprise to see more "immersive" ads when browsing Facebook and Instagram soon.
