Last month, WhatsApp announced that they started introducing the ability to invite friends or loved ones to voice or video calls by simply sharing a link. With this feature, WhatsApp can be used as an alternative to Microsoft Teams or Google Meet.
It will also make it easier for users to invite anyone to join a voice or video call, even if they are not in the address book. While this feature was announced, its use was still limited. Now after almost a month, this feature is rolling out to everyone.
To use this feature, you just need to press Call (Calls), press Create Call Link (Create Call Link), then select the type of call either video or voice and you can directly share the link or copy the link to send to others.
In my tests, this feature is only available for WhatsApp users and devices accessing this link need to have the WhatsApp app installed or have WhatsApp Web active. Unlike FaceTime which can be used by anyone even without an Apple device.
