Lenovo is the first company to offer a laptop with a foldable screen with the ThinkPad X1 Fold. One drawback of this design is that it requires a physical keyboard accessory for those who are not yet comfortable with an on-screen keyboard. At the ongoing Lenovo Tech World 2022 event, Lenovo showcased the world's first rollable screen laptop design.
Through this design, the laptop screen will be larger as it moves up when needed. A special mechanism rolls this screen back to its original size when not needed.
In the same event their foldable screen smartphone design was also shown for the first time. Like their laptop counterparts, the phone grows vertically with the top of the screen rising up to get a wide screen. In the rolled position, the size of the device is compact and small.
At the time of this writing, Lenovo has not shared information about the specifications, or whether these prototypes will be offered to the public.
