After being delayed due to the pandemic, the Connectivity Standards Alliance and its members launched the Matter 1.0 standard for internet of things (IoT) devices. Through Matter 1.0, all IoT devices from various manufacturers can be used in various ecosystems without having to worry about them being incompatible as has been the case all along.
Matter 1.0 will be supported by over 280 IoT device manufacturers such as Over 280 member companies such as Amazon, Apple, Google, Huawei, IKEA, Oppo, Signify and SmartThings. Google for example confirms that devices that support Matter 1.0 can be connected to the Google Home system through the Fast Pair feature.
In addition to standardizing internet of things standards, Matter is also developing standards that standardize how content from smartphones can be beamed to televisions and smart speakers in the future. After this, users only need to find the Matter logo on the device they want to buy without having to worry about whether or not it is compatible with the ecosystem being used.
