Meta Quest Pro is a new flagship virtual reality headset powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+, has 12GB RAM memory and 256GB internal storage that promises 50% better performance than Meta Quest 2. There are 10 sensors included with the ability to track the user's eyes and face.
This virtual reality headset also supports more realistic augmented reality. The additional sensor can also display accurate facial expressions with the wearer's facial expression through the Avatar in Horizon Worlds.
Recently, Meta has updated their privacy policy page with a subsection dedicated to eye tracking - Eye Tracking Privacy Notice. Meta Quest Pro can track the user's eyes according to the user's eye movements based on what is seen on the display of this virtual reality headset. According to Meta, this eye tracking data will be used to provide a better user experience – which is usually to ensure that the ads displayed are relevant to the user's interests.
According to the Financial Times in an interview with Nick Clegg, one of Meta's executives, this eye tracking can also be used to determine whether a user will see an ad or not. If Meta used to use user data through the Facebook app, now they can use eye tracking data – what will be tracked next?
Meta is also developing a feature where later with Meta Quest, it can track the movements of the user's entire body. What does this mean for the future of the metacity?
