Last January, Microsoft officially took over Activison Blizzard - joining their Microsoft Gaming family. After this acquisition, the value of Sony shares also fell by up to 12 percent.
Among the reasons for this acquisition is to ensure that Activision Blizzard video games can be included in Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass or even Xbox Cloud Gaming. Among the games under this studio are Overwatch, Diablo, Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Candy Crush and many more.
Recently The Verge reported that Microsoft also had another reason for this acquisition. This information was obtained through a document that Microsoft provided to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) of the United Kingdom, where they explained that they are developing an Xbox mobile video game store. Essentially, Microsoft wants to expand the Xbox Store to the smartphone platform.
Microsoft will also be present with the Xbox Mobile Platform and this first store will help attract people's attention. It is also to compete with Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Activision Blizzard will also play an important role in the development of this new flagship store.
Microsoft is also slowly starting to support Android mobile consoles such as Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld and Razer Edge for Xbox Cloud Gaming. This support is also available on Steam Deck.
