Microsoft Edge is a new generation web browser built on Chromium. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most popular web browsers right now whether on desktop, tablet or phone. According to statcounter since the Chromium version was introduced in September 2021 (stable) until September 2022, Edge is the third most popular web browser in the world.
According to The Verge, Microsoft is now seen starting to force users to use Edge as the default web browser. Not only that, Edge is now pre-installed in Windows – where in the new update it can no longer be removed.
Some users report that as soon as the computer is turned on, Edge will be launched automatically, instructing the user to transfer data from other web browsers to Edge, pinned to the desktop and taskbar itself, and not forgetting the original default web browser that the user has set.
When Edge launches automatically, there is no option to close it except by following the directions on the screen first. In my own check in the Windows settings, it is true that Edge can no longer be removed with only the "Change" option.
What do you think about this Microsoft strategy?
