One of the topics that is often discussed about the MySejahtera application, apart from the security of user data and also the cost of developing the application, is the ownership of the application.
The full report by the PAC shows the discussions that took place between the parties involved such as the National Security Council and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Wong Kah Wong, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee is seen to have asked about this matter to MOSTI, KKM, MAMPU and also MKN because although the government previously said that the intellectual property rights of the application belong to the government, official documents from the company -companies such as MySJ Sdn Bhd, Entomo, Hasrat Budi Sdn Bhd and so on.
MySJ Sdn Bhd, which was appointed to update and develop new features, has also shown in a number of documents that they own the IP rights that include the source code, technology and user data of the MySejahtera application.
The report also stated that it was not until April 6 when the government said that the IP ownership and user data of the MySejahtera application would be transferred completely under the government, specifically under the Malaysian Ministry of Health.
When MySJ Sdn Bhd made a statement saying that they owned the IP rights of the application belonging to the company, it was also reported that the government did not deny this, but did due diligence to ensure that the code and data of the application were fully owned by the government.
