According to the data for the first eight months of 2022, it is seen that Netflix continues to lead the video streaming arena in the Southeast Asian region, including Malaysia.
It can be seen that Netflix has a market share of around 66% in Malaysia, followed by the second most popular video streaming service Viu with a share of 10%.
In addition, iQiyi is seen ranked third, and Disney+ Hotstar is ranked 4th.
The service developed by a local company, namely Astro Go, ranked 5th with a 5% share.
The video streaming arena is seen to continue to have fierce competition with each other, and Netflix will continue to face challenges in remaining the leading service provider in the region.
Recently, Netflix has also been quite active in bringing in a number of local films directly to their platform, right after the end of the screening in cinemas - such as Mat Kilau.
