Nicotine Replacement Products Are Now More Widely Available

As part of the Generational End Game (GEG) to ensure a smoke-free country, the Malaysian government has introduced various new laws to ensure the next generation no longer smokes, and make it easier for those who are still addicted to reduce the unhealthy activity.

Recently, the Malaysian Ministry of Health has issued a statement that nicotine, especially nicotine replacement products such as nicotine patches will no longer be gazetted under the control of the Poisons Act 1962 effective today, 6 October 2022.

According to the statement issued, this is part of GEG and to make it easier for those who want to quit smoking to find an alternative that will help them in the short and medium term.

With this exception, nicotine replacement products can be sold more widely in stores, and this will give consumers more options for ways to quit smoking.
