Many believe humans will reach the surface of the moon in this generation. NASA's Artemis mission to the moon is the first phase of sending humans to Mars with the moon as a launch pad. The time on earth and Mars is different and hence the Omega Speedmaster X-33 Marstimer watch was launched.
Marstimer was developed in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) to allow astronauts on Mars to accurately track the time on Earth and Mars later on. This is necessary considering that a day on Mars or called Sol is around 24 hours 40 minutes while a year is almost 670 days. Travelers on Mars need a clock they can rely on to always tell the correct time.
