Philips Handheld Steamer STH1000 Review – Good Steam Iron For First Time Users

As a writer , I regularly attend many events. Some in the country, some abroad and sometimes abroad. To ensure that identity is carefully guarded, my clothing also needs to be neat. But sometimes my busy schedule doesn't give me enough time to iron clothes.

The Philips Handheld Steamer STH1000 was launched a few months ago and at first I didn't know if it was the device to buy. In fact I have to say this is probably the hardest review to write as it is the first of its kind . So I will try to answer the question whether it is worth it or not based on my personal experience of not being comfortable ironing clothes at home.

Specifications And Design

Philips Handheld Steamer STH1000 is a compact steam iron measuring only 9.2 x 19 x 11.3 mm and only 520g. Much lighter than most irons on the market. This Philips steam iron has a removable 85ml water tank to refill water before or while it is in use. In terms of design it is like a bar code scanner in a supermarket. The body is made of plastic with a long handle for holding.

There is a small button on the stem to start the steaming process. I realized that the meson can be used 35 seconds after this trigger-like button is pressed. The steam rate of this iron is 18mg per minute. Philips assures that it supports all types of fabrics and by using this steam iron, the ironing board is no longer needed.

The design is also simple, easy to handle like a child's water gun. It is made of plastic and the unit I tested was white and blue which were the only colors offered. Opening the tank is also easy.

What's interesting for me who doesn't like ironing clothes because it's cumbersome, heavy or if I want to be honest - lazy. This steam iron makes it easier for me if I really want to look neater and more stylish with my clothes every day.

Usage Experience

Not only do I have no time to iron clothes, but it's a chore I hate. In fact, most of my clothes if I'm going to travel or attend an event, I send them to the store or hire my sister to help scrub them. When I was given the opportunity to test this Philips Handheld Steamer STH1000, I tried to make this activity of ironing clothes a regular thing because when would I want to give an excuse that I don't have time and how much ringgit do I have to spend to hire someone?

From the beginning I knew, this steam iron is not for ironing crumpled shirts or pants. Instead it is a steam iron for the final finish. For example, my shirts and trousers have been ironed and I need to put them in a bag to take with me when traveling – this steam iron will be used to remove creases.

After a few months of using the Philips Handheld Steamer STH1000, I found that it helps me a lot to keep myself tidy. Just what I noticed, it is not an iron for people who are short on time but suitable for people who have a lot of time.

This is because even though it only takes 35 seconds to heat up, only after about less than a minute the heating process needs to be done again. This all happens automatically, but it's a little inconvenient if there's only one crease left to finish rubbing and you have to wait for it to heat up. This is probably because of its compact size, the water entering to turn into steam is limited.

Even so using the Philips Handheld Steamer STH1000 is easy. First of all just need to remove the small water tank under it which I noticed no leakage problem. Then directly connect the wire to the wall plug and wait half a minute to heat up, the rubbing process can be used directly. There is an LED light to let you know whether the heating process is complete or when the water vapor has run out.

The buttons on this steam iron are also comfortable to press. The most important thing is that it is easy to handle and the hands do not feel tired easily. It's just that if you focus too much on one part for too long, the steam that builds up will quickly make your hands feel hot – but not so much that it's uncomfortable.

Conclusion

As a first-time user, I feel this is a steam iron that because of its compact size is easy to carry anywhere. The heating time is also not long and is sufficient if you just want to make sure the clothes stay neat if there are creases or creases. I have never tried another brand like Deerma HS200 which has a cooler design. But this Philips Handheld Steamer STH1000 is a good alternative because it is an official set sold in Malaysia.

It can do what it should, it's easy to use and my clothes when traveling or coming back to the village are now always neat. The official selling price is RM139, but in many online stores it can already be found for less than RM130.

Sincerely I say it is not a substitute for an iron and not a magical tool that can facilitate the process of removing wrinkles from clothes. To get rid of wrinkles better I still recommend you buy a steam iron because most of them on the market now have a smart feature that changes the heat of the steam depending on the fabric you want to iron. It's more expensive but a steam iron is more useful in more situations (despite the higher price).

Light, compact and easy to carry anywhere.

Heats up quickly and can be used immediately.

No manual needed for first time users.

The selling price is not that expensive.

Cons

Heats up quickly, but ends quickly.

White color that gets dirty easily.

Not the wireless type like some other Chinese brands.
