Samsung and Google announced they will work together to support the Matter 1.0 protocol on Samsung SmartThings and Google Home systems. Through this collaboration, users can view Internet of Things (IoT) devices that support Matter 1.0 in SmartThings and Home more easily.
After the device is plugged into one of the Android device systems, it can then be controlled using SmartThings and Home without having to go through the registration process twice.
Support for Google Home devices in the Samsung SmartThings ecosystem has been a given for the past few years. With the Matter 1.0 protocol just announced a few weeks ago to standardize IoT devices in the home, the issue of purchased devices not fitting into the home ecosystem has been resolved.
