Samsung is the world's largest producer of OLED panels with their own screens being used by competitors such as Apple, Oppo, Huawei and Vivo. But with OLED technology no longer being categorized as the latest, Samsung is now developing MicroLED on Silicone screen technology, or LEDoS for short, for augmented reality (AR) headsets.
Samsung realizes that for AR headsets, brighter screens are needed so that the combined virtual and real world views appear more realistic. LEDoS is believed to be able to offer this information and at the same time provide a pixel density of 6,600 PPI which is several times higher than what is currently used.
This LEDoS development may also be another sign that Samsung is developing a new Odsyssey AR headset. The Odsyssey headset they previously released was marketed in limited quantities.
