Samsung Maintenance Mode That Encrypts Data When Devices Are Repaired Is Now Given To Global Users

Maintenance Mode was announced by Samsung last July and initially it was only given to users in South Korea. Through this feature the device owner does not have to worry about the security of the device's data when it is sent to the repair center because the personal data will be encrypted.

Samsung today announced Maintenance Mode is rolling out to global users who receive the One UI 5 update in stages. So far only the Galaxy S22 series has received One UI 5 which is based on Android 13.

Samsung added that in addition to ensuring that personal data such as photos, address books and credit card information are encrypted using the Samsung Knox system, Maintenance Mode will also delete any data generated while the device is undergoing a repair process.
