Saudi Arabia Will Spend RM 175 Billion To Make Them A Video Game Hub

 


Saudi Arabia is a country famous for two things. One of the world's largest petroleum producers and also the guardian of two of the most important cities of Islam. But by 2030, Saudi Arabia wants to also be known as the video game hub of the world.



Savvy Games Group which is a subsidiary under Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund announced they will invest 142 billion Riyals (~RM175 billion) to make this dream a reality. A total of 50 billion Riyals (~RM62 billion) will be spent to take over the developer company and 70 billion Riyals (~RM86 billion) will be spent to just buy reality in other video game companies.


Next, 20 billion Riyals (~RM25 billion) will be invested in other businesses in the video game industry and finally 2 billion Riyals (~RM 2.5 billion) will be invested in sports companies. Investments in the sports arena are being actively launched by Saudi Arabia to change the image of a country that has been seen as conservative.
