The Sony Alpha 7R V camera was launched yesterday as an updated model for the Alpha 7R IV that was launched three years ago. For the latest iteration, the camera is equipped with a 61-MP sensor from the Exmor R CMOS family paired with a Bionz XR processor chip. This is the same sensor as the 7R IV with improvements given to the image processing chip.
The 5-axis IBIS in-body image stabilization system ensures that captured images are always clear. Assisted by a focusing system that uses artificial intelligence. According to Sony, with the introduction of artificial intelligence, the Eye AF system now works 60% faster. Object, hand, eye, mouth, nose and hand detection is done all the time to track objects more intelligently.
In terms of camera performance, the Sony Alpha 7R V can record up to 1000 continuous frames in JPEG mode and 547 continuous images in RAW mode at a rate of 10 FPS. Video recording is up to 8K 30p but only up to 30 minutes. It goes up to unlimited at 4K 60p settings. The ISO range is between 100 - 32,000.
The 98.44 million dot EVF is paired with a 4″ LCD screen that can be freely rotated sideways and forward for selfie/selfvideo recording. Two CFexpress Type A memory cards can be used simultaneously. Charging and data transfer are done through the USB-C port.
The selling price of the Sony Alpha 7R V is RM18,099 for the body only, with Sony Malaysia confirming that pre-orders will open in November and sales next December.
