Colors used on Adobe software are not theirs. On the other hand, since the 1990s, Adobe has been using colors licensed by Pantone, which has produced various color tones since the 1950s for printing purposes. Starting November 2022, Pantone color support in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign software will begin to be limited because the license to use it will have to be paid by the user.
Only the Pantone + CMYK Coated, Pantone + CMYK Uncoated and Pantone + Metallic Coated color books can be accessed for free by Creative Cloud customers. If Adobe customers want to continue using the Pantone color library, they need an additional subscription of $14.99 (~RM70) per month or $89.99 per year through the Pantone Connect plugin.
It will provide access to a library of over 15,000 Pantone Colors color books. This change will have an impact on professionals who need the right warrant book for the right brand and logo. Because of licensing issues, users now have to subscribe to more services which when combined will cost a lot of money.
