It's been more than 11 years since Steve Jobs died of pancreatic cancer. During his life, he did not do many interviews and it was limited to some famous media and special events only. Since he died before podsiar technology, artificial intelligence and metacity matured many must wonder what he would think about this technology if he were still alive.
Podcast.ai has used artificial intelligence to produce a podcast episode where the late Steve Jobs is interviewed by Joe Rogan. These two leading individual voices are completely generated using artificial intelligence using samples of previously performed audio recordings.
The result is a fake interview episode that sounds quite realistic only a bit strange because of the strange sounding tone of voice. The use of artificial intelligence to produce new audio that has never been spoken by a real individual opens up many ethical questions.
This year artificial intelligence was used to produce the voice of Val Kilmer in the movie Top Gun Maverick because he can no longer speak. Before that his voice was generated using artificial intelligence to be the narrator of Val's documentary. James Earl Jones sold the rights to use the voice to an artificial intelligence firm so that it could be used in future film projects.
