Last week, the iOS 16.1 beta update also supported a new beta update for the first generation AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. This update brings the Adaptive Transparency feature introduced specifically for AirPods Pro 2.
It's a bit strange that this feature is supported on older generation audio accessories, as Apple rarely offers exclusive new features on new products to old fashioned ones. Mark Gurman recently stated, this update is just a bug and it is very likely that users of the first generation AirPods Pro and AirPods Max will not be able to enjoy it.
Among the main reasons is, Adaptive Transparency or this adaptive sound transparent mode requires the Apple H2 chip and these two old Apple audio accessories use the Apple H1 chip.
This feature allows the AirPods Pro 2 to cancel noise such as sirens, the sound of machinery on a construction site, etc. but human conversations can still be heard.
