Among the hot words last year was Web3. The term is used for various crypto-like services that are predicted to replace the current Web 2.0. Vertu this week launched their latest smartphone, the Metavertu which is marketed as the first of their kind to support Web3.
Vertu Metavertu is equipped with a 6.67″ AMOLED FHD+ screen with 144Hz support. Powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, memory up to 18GB, storage up to 1TB, and a 4400 mAh battery that supports 55W charging allows the device to be recharged in just 20 minutes. The 64M wide-angle main camera with OIS is paired with a 50MP ultra-wide-angle and 8MP periscope. On the front there is a 16MP camera.
Metavertu owners also receive 10TB of cloud storage to avoid the worry of device storage not being large enough in the future. According to Vertu, the A5 security chip used will ensure data security. This is important because Metavertu comes with built-in crypto and NFT wallet features. Exclusive access features to some Web3 services are also advertised. Owners can also mine Ethereum crypto using Metavertu.
Following the Vertu tradition, the Metavertu is offered with a variety of exotic body finishes such as crocodile skin, snake skin and carbon fiber. Therefore it is sold at a starting price of RM15,815 for the Jade Black version and goes up to RM195,921 for the Himalayan crocodile version with gold and gems.
