Xiaomi has already launched the successor of Xiaomi 11T/11T Pro last night which is Xiaomi 12T and also Xiaomi 12T Pro. It offers quite interesting specifications and the device has already arrived at the our lab since a week ago. Now after testing it, I am quite surprised by the capabilities of this device and in this review article I will share is this device worth having?

The design of the Xiaomi 12T Pro is seen to be similar to the Xiaomi 12 Pro. When compared side by side, there is not much difference except on the screen. The device has a flatter screen, then on the speaker grill it uses a common hole design compared to the more unique Xiaomi 12 Pro.
The device's screen is a 6.67″ CrystalRes AMOLED DotDisplay, which supports AdaptiveSync refresh rates of 30Hz up to 120Hz, and can display HDR10+ and Dolby Vision content. The device has a flat design unlike the 12 Pro which is curved on both sides. The design is better in my opinion because there is no issue with the video or the first visual spilling over to the edge which is quite disturbing.
Xiaomi also maintains features in MIUI 13 where videos on YouTube and Netflix can be further enhanced such as 2K Upscale, change color type, make movement smoother and more. Throughout my use, the screen on this device is one of the best I've ever used.
Xiaomi 12T Pro is also powered by the most powerful processing chip for Android so far, namely Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and paired with 8GB or 12GB RAM memory and 256GB internal storage. The device's camera is the main 200MP, a first for a Xiaomi device paired with two basic sensors of 8MP and 2MP for ultra wide angle and macro.
The power button and audio controls are located on the right side of the device's metal frame. On the top there is also an infrared emitter along with an audio grille. Meanwhile at the bottom there is an audio grill, USB-C port and SIM tray. The tablet supports nano-sized dual-SIM but no support for micro SD card.
Although on paper the 12T Pro's specs fall into the flagship category, it however lacks any waterproof capabilities. The body of this device is a little thick due to the use of a relatively large 5000 mAh battery. Even so, it is still comfortable when placed in a trouser pocket.
The device is also quite robust. The metal frame surrounding the device is quite sturdy as we had difficulty bending the body even under high pressure. At the beginning of this review we said that the design of the 12T Pro shares a lot with the 12 Pro but the most significant difference lies in the camera bump which is now square instead of round on the 12 Pro.
This hump is quite large and in a two-story configuration. This makes the device impossible to lay flat on a table. Xiaomi provides a silicone frame with every purchase to protect the bump and camera lens.
Use And Software
Since Xiaomi 12 Lite, I have noticed that MIUI 13 built on Android 12 is getting better and better. What I like the most is that there are no more notification problems. Many of the features and functions on the device are still more or less the same as any premium Xiaomi device. For example, this Xiaomi 12T Pro supports 120W HyperCharge fast charging, so Boost Charging Speed and Optimized Charging are included to control the charging rate so that the device does not heat up and battery health is guaranteed.
Like the Xiaomi Mi 11, Xiaomi also continues the ability of an under-screen fingerprint scanner that can scan the pulse. It also has a Front Camera Assistant for selected applications so that the selfie camera has better quality during video calls or video recording sessions. On my review unit which uses 8GB of RAM memory, the Memory Extension feature which is virtual memory is only limited to 3GB of RAM – making the device a bit better.

Conclusion
The Xiaomi 12T Pro is a pretty great flagship device. It has a high quality screen with a high refresh rate and Dolby Vision HDR display which is rarely supported on Android devices. The camera quality is also pretty great, even our photographers prefer this device's camera over the iPhone 14 Pro for photography.
For those who haven't bought Xiaomi 12 or Xiaomi 12 Pro, these two devices can be skipped if the design and construction of the device is not that important to you. This device can be said to be an alternative to the Xiaomi 12S Ultra which is not sold in Malaysia for those who want to try the prowess of the Xiaomi camera. I am sure you will not regret using this device. The device is sold at a price of RM2,699 for the 8/256 GB variant and RM2,999 for the 12/256 GB variant.
