It is common to have real names, online names and spoiled short names that are used only by family members or close friends. Because of this, having different personas between platforms can sometimes cause confusion when name A is used on Facebook but name B is used on TikTok.
Today YouTube Handles are introduced as another way to make it easier for users' personal identities to be found on the YouTube platform. With Handles, the user can select another name with an "@" sign in front. For example I can use the name @obefiend on YouTube from now on.
This is in contrast to the channel name used by YouTube over the years which can still be used. The difference is that after this in addition to the URL to the channel, users can also share a link using the selected URL youtube.com/@name_handles
