YouTube Stops Test That Limits 4K Streaming To Premium Subscribers

A few weeks ago, YouTube was seen testing a new feature where streaming at 4K resolution i.e. 2160p requires a YouTube Premium subscription and is no longer accessible to free users. The test was distributed randomly to selected users and it received criticism because many disagreed with it.

Not only do free users have to deal with a large amount of ads, but 4K streaming is limited and has to be paid for. Now this test appears to have been stopped by YouTube and affected free users are back able to stream 4K videos at no additional cost.

Does this criticism make the YouTube test fail and find that many free users do not want to subscribe and are willing to face the dumping of ads? YouTube Premium subscription price is RM 17.90 per month, RM10.90 per month for students or around RM4.50 per month with a family plan (RM26.90).
