Before the existence of TikTok, the Stories feature on social media platforms – Vine was the most popular short video platform with a duration of 6 seconds. Twitter took over Vine in 2012, after four years they ended it and completely ceased operations in 2017.
The founders of Vine then came up with Vine 2.0 that is Byte in 2020, which was also a short video content platform – but after a year it was taken over by their competitor Clash and is now Huddles which is a platform for content creators and followers to interact with each other.
Bring back Vine?
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 31, 2022
Now, Elon Musk has officially taken over Twitter and become the new CEO or "Chief Twit". He started announcing many plans to change Twitter, such as having to subscribe to Twitter Blue to get "Verified" status. He is also seen as possibly interested in bringing back Vine.
As of this writing, there have been over 3.5 million people voting on Elon Musk's tweet about Vine coming back. 69% of people which is around 2.4 million want Vine back with only 31% not. If Vine is brought back, it will compete with TikTok, YouTube Shorts, IG/FB Reels which are now growing in popularity.
If it comes back is it still good to stay with the short 6 second video or does it need to be something different. Twitter has also introduced a video display feature similar to TikTok through the Discovery site, where videos can be scrolled endlessly. what do you say
