IBM Launches Osprey As World's Most Powerful Quantum Chip

IBM announced the Osprey quantum chip with 422 qubits of processing power making it the most powerful ever produced. It is well ahead of the IBM Eagle chip announced last year with 127 qubits and higher than the previous record holder Xanadu Borealis with 216 qubits.

Next year IBM wants to further increase the power by launching Condor with 1121 qubits. Also in IBM's short-term plans is the Hero, which is a modular chip that can be combined to increase processing power as needed.

Then by 2023 IBM Quantum System Two will be announced it will be the basis of the Kookaboora quantum computer network system with the ability to process 4158 qubits by 2025
