Laptops Powered by ARM Processing Chips Expected to Continue Popularity in 2023

The years 2020 to 2022 have shown the sale and use of laptops that use ARM processing chips are quite high. Initially it was due to the insufficient supply of laptops with X86 processing chips in the market due to the need for computers to work and study from home.

In the following years, it was shown that the ARM processing chips that power these laptops have come up with dramatic improvements, making computers like the Google Chromebook and Surface Pro tablets that use the chip almost as good a choice as computers- laptops that use AMD and Intel chips.

A DigiTimes report says that by 2023, laptops powered by ARM processing chips will take 13.9 percent of the global market. This is not surprising because apart from devices such as Chromebooks, Apple laptops such as the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro also use Arm-based processing chips, such as the Apple M1 and Apple M2 series.

Laptop sales are seen to be down year-on-year this year, but the same report also expects that laptop production will stabilize at 200 million units per year.

The advantage of laptops powered by ARM processing chips comes through their performance which is seen to be almost on par with laptops powered by X86 chips in terms of productivity tasks and much longer battery life.

In fact, with announcements such as Qualcomm which is expected to introduce ARM processing chips for laptops and desktops in 2024, it also shows a paradigm shift in the use of these processing chips which is expected to further enliven the laptop and desktop market.
