After laying off around 11 thousand employees recently, Meta has announced that they will also stop developing their display project and smartwatch, Portal.
Portal devices have been developed by Meta since the beginning of the pandemic era, but unfortunately they have not received the same reception as the products of companies such as Google and Amazon.
Meta later changed the sales pattern of these devices to be sold to companies only, and now appears to have stopped further development of the brand.
Meta, which was also supposed to develop smartwatches, appears to have stopped development of the product, and the team will reportedly be transferred to the augmented reality technology development team for their metaverse world.
It was also reported that 54 percent of those laid off were in business development, while the rest were in various technical positions, including service developers and programmers.
Meta has seen significant losses since announcing their focus on their Metaverse virtual world. Even so, they are expected to continue to stay with this project, especially with the various types of services and devices introduced for the world.
