Razer has recently announced that all USB 3.2 Gen2 plugs on their Razer Blade 14 laptops have been upgraded to USB4 via a software update.
Normally, this kind of upgrade needs to be done physically because the standards between USB 3.2 and USB4 are quite different. For example, in terms of speed, the USB 3.2 Gen2 plug has an official speed of 20Gbps, while USB4 has an official data transmission speed of 40Gbps.
It is expected that the USB plug components used in the Razer Blade 14 2022 laptop will already pass the standard to be used as USB4, but due to the bug issues that need to be resolved and also the certification that needs to be obtained from USB-IF first.
This is quite interesting because with this update, the USB plugs on the laptop will receive a twofold faster speed upgrade for free.
