Samsung is certain to launch the Galaxy S23 series in the first quarter of 2023. The exact schedule is still a mystery, but information from South Korea seems to be able to provide some clues.
According to reports from South Korean media Chosun, Samsung will reportedly release the Galaxy S23 series in the first week of February 2023. This means that the launch could fall between January 30 and February 5, 2023.
This year, Samsung announced the Galaxy S22 series on February 9 and opened its first sale on February 25. If these rumors are true, then the launch of the Galaxy S23 series will be slightly faster than its predecessor.
Samsung usually opens pre-orders for two weeks after the Galaxy Unpacked event and units will ship on Friday. Looking at the calendar, it looks like the pre-ordered Galaxy S23 will be handed over to buyers on February 17, 2023, as quoted from GSM Arena, Monday (7/11/2022).
The launch of the Galaxy S used to be in March, but changing market conditions forced Samsung to move its schedule to February. With this new schedule, the Galaxy S series can compete more closely with its rivals, some of which were launched in December and boosted Samsung's revenue for the first quarter.
This isn't the first time Samsung has been rumored to be launching the Galaxy S23 sooner. Other Korean media have also made similar claims but they did not provide a definite schedule.
For the Galaxy S23, Chosun reports that Samsung is speeding up its rollout due to the weak global smartphone market that analysts expect will continue into next year.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 itself is expected to come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. From the leaks that have been circulating, it seems that the design of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra is still the same as its predecessor.
The biggest improvement seems to be coming to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. This highest variant is predicted to come with a 200 MP camera and better telephoto quality.
