The parent company behind Shopee, namely Sea, is now seen to have laid off around 7,000 employees or nearly 10% of its workforce in the last 6 months. In fact, recently, according to Bloomberg, this week Shopee itself has laid off around 100 employees.
Sea said the move to reduce these workers is to improve and optimize their company's operations.
Previously, Sea companies were also affected when they actively expanded their services to other countries, but failed to succeed in other countries as well as causing losses on the investment. At the same time, they are also affected by restrictions in India for games like Free Fire.
Sea is expected to announce its latest financial statements this week, where we will be able to see more about the company's current position.
