The World's Largest Cargo Plane An-225 Mriya Will Be Rebuilt After The War Ends

The world's largest cargo plane Antonov An-225 "Mriya" was destroyed last February after Hostomel airport was shelled by the Russian army. The destruction of Mriya was mourned by aeronautics enthusiasts in the world as only one aircraft with six engines was built.

Antonov has issued a statement that this aircraft will be rebuilt after the end of the Ukrainian War. Previously the cost to rebuild the aircraft was predicted to reach $3 billion. But after the wreckage was examined, up to 30% of the components could be reused reducing the cost of reconstruction to $500 million.

It is very likely that this aircraft will use part of the second An-225 body that was never completed after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Buran spacecraft project was also canceled. The An-225 was built specifically to carry Buran on the outside of the plane to the launch site in Baikonur, Kazakhstan.
